Maranatha Christian Academy (MCA)

Our History

In August 1979, the Lord brought the vision of the members of Maranatha Baptist Church to fruition with the opening of Maranatha Christian Academy. The school began with twenty-four students and two teachers.

The first Awards Ceremony was held in June 1980, but it wasn't until the following year, June 1981, that our first graduation took place. Two students graduated that year. Since then, over seventy more students have received a High School diploma from MCA. Our graduates have attended numerous colleges throughout the country, including Philadelphia Biblical University, Liberty University, Cedarville University, Rutgers University, Pennsylvania State University, New Jersey Institute of Technology, New York University, Springfield College, and the University of Medicine and Dentistry, among many others.

We praise and thank God for His faithfulness, grace, and blessings on the ministry of Maranatha Christian Academy these past twenty-eight years. We humbly ask that He would continue to watch over us as we minister to children and seek to train them for His honor and glory.

Please contact our office (732-739-4201 or email MCA Office) for tuition and academic information.

Philosophy of Education

MCA is a ministry of Maranatha Baptist Church and is one of over 7,000 schools using the A.C.E. (Accelerated Christian Education) curriculum worldwide. It is our goal to provide children (age 6 and above) with a biblically based education.

Education is a never-ending process. It is more than reading, writing, and arithmetic. It is the process of learning how to live by developing individual character. A biblically based education includes three elements. First, the facts learned in school must be true to God's Word. Second, these facts are to be understood from God's perspective. Third, the knowledge acquired from these facts must be used within biblical guidelines. This is the type of education our academy strives to instill in each child.

This quality education is not without costs. It will cost time and energy as parents and staff work closely together for the benefit of the student. Parents have the responsibility to see that all school-related assignments are successfully completed. They also have the responsibility to support the school through their prayers and tuition.

With these greater responsibilities come greater privileges. Your children will be in an environment that will allow them to achieve the most they are capable of producing both academically and spiritually. They will interact with a curriculum that treats them as individuals and allows them to proceed through their education at their own rate. They will be under the guidance of a committed, quality staff that will love them and motivate them to learn.

Six Most Frequently Asked Questions

  1. What is Maranatha Christian Academy?

Maranatha Christian Academy (MCA) opened in 1979 as a ministry of Maranatha Baptist Church. MCA provides children (beginning at age 6) with an individualized, self-directed, and quality Christian education. A proven academic curriculum is provided for all students from 1st grade through high school.

  2. What is the quality of your staff?

Our teaching staff is required to have a Bachelor's degree before being hired. Throughout our history, our teachers have come with first-hand experience in Christian ministry or education or both. Character and a desire to serve others are important to us. The volunteer staff are parents or members of our church who have a vested interest in helping your child succeed.

  3. How do you instruct students if you do not use grade levels?

Our academic program is geared to the individual. Twelve workbooks (Paces) make up one grade level in each subject and students receive individualized instruction from the staff throughout the school day. This academic program allows the students to progress through their education at their own pace. Compared to students in other school systems, MCA students often progress ahead of their peers and may graduate earlier.

  4. What is the educational cost?

Although the Academy offers a quality program, it is our desire to keep Christian education more affordable. The current cost is $3,995 for the first student in a family.

  5. What is the quality of education?

The Academy offers a high quality college preparatory curriculum while at the same time equips those who will directly enter the labor force. Over seventy-five percent of our graduates enter college and have been accepted in many colleges including area Bible colleges (PBU, LBC), Rutgers University, Pennsylvania State University, NJIT, NYU, and the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey.

  6. Does the Academy have any extracurricular programs?

The Academy staff works hard to offer more than simply an academic challenge. For the past nine years the students have had the opportunity to participate in a variety of theatrical productions working alongside adults as part of the cast and crew. Over the years, MCA has also been involved in interscholastic basketball, soccer, flag-football, volleyball, and baseball. Availability of these activities varies each year, as they are dependent on class size and interest of students and parents. In the spring, high school students are able to compete in an annual convention tournament with a number of events including: athletics, public speaking, art, photography, creative writing, and music.
